Choose Zendesk for organization-wide sharing or selected individual viewers; choose Zoho Desk when an account needs company-ticket access granted contact by contact; compare Freshdesk for named company contacts, including representatives tied to multiple companies. Jira Service Management suits request-by-request or organization sharing under admin-set permissions, while TeamSupport is worth reviewing for its account-oriented Customer Hub. This comparison is about customers tracking their support work. A branded knowledge page alone does not meet that requirement.
B2B customer support portals to review
| Product | Strongest fit | Deciding capability | Access boundary |
|---|
| Zendesk | Own-ticket access plus selected company-wide viewers | Organization-wide sharing or individual visibility grants | Provider administrators configure access; an all-member sharing setting overrides individual own-ticket limits |
| Zoho Desk | Company access for chosen account contacts | Account-wide permission plus an individual Show Tickets from Other Contacts setting | Desk administrators configure both levels; a knowledge-only portal does not provide ticket tracking |
| Freshdesk | Named company contacts and multi-company representatives | Per-contact company ticket visibility | Provider staff control membership; multiple companies require Pro or above |
| Jira Service Management | Customer organizations that share selected requests | Organization membership and request sharing rules | Admins manage organization membership; organization-shared requests can be visible to every member |
| TeamSupport | Account-oriented support with product information | Customer Hub with company-wide ticket collaboration documented in a vendor customer example | Professional/Scale include the portal; the reviewed vendor pages do not document customer-administrator controls |
Zendesk: decide between shared organizations and selected viewers
Zendesk's customer portal lets signed-in customers submit requests, inspect status and comment. Organization requests expose colleagues' cases when the administrator has enabled sharing. A permitted user can follow the organization's requests rather than ask support for a weekly status export.
The access model is the purchasing detail to check. Sharing all organization tickets makes them visible to all members, overriding an individual own-ticket restriction. For a customer manager who should see everything while ordinary employees see only their own cases, keep the organization at own-ticket scope and grant the manager wider visibility. These are provider-admin settings; they do not by themselves create a customer administrator who can invite and remove colleagues.
Zoho Desk: grant account-ticket access to selected contacts
Zoho Desk supports authenticated request tracking in My Area, where customers can view ticket status and history, submit requests and reply. Its Help Center access settings let administrators enable company-ticket visibility for contacts in the same account; the contact setting then selects who can see other contacts' tickets. That is a close fit when a customer manager should see company requests while other users keep own-ticket access. The checked documentation assigns these controls to provider-side Desk administration.
For email continuity, customers can reply from My Area, while incoming email can be threaded to an existing ticket by its ticket ID when enabled; that option is available on Standard and higher and requires the documented subject format. See Zoho's email channel documentation before relying on email replies for portal tickets.
Freshdesk: grant company visibility to named contacts
Freshdesk's portal supports request creation, status tracking, replies and reopening. Its contact/company model lets provider staff grant a contact access to all tickets for the associated company. Pro and above can associate one person with several companies and set visibility for each. This fits a reseller or consultant who legitimately supports more than one customer organization.
Customers cannot create those multi-company associations themselves. Treat company-ticket access and customer-user administration as separate requirements. Agents can reply by email to portal-originated tickets, while requesters return to the portal to inspect or update the case. Use Freshdesk pricing to select the plan around the company association and portal requirements rather than the lowest seat price.
Jira Service Management: share requests with customer organizations
Jira Service Management Cloud lets external customers raise requests through a portal and review them there. When an organization is added to a request, all its members can view and search that request in the help center. Site or space administrators manage organization membership; agents can do so only when an administrator enables that permission. Customer request sharing follows the project's configured policy.
Jira also carries replies across channels: customer replies to request notifications appear as comments on the work item, while an agent's customer reply is visible in the portal and typically sent by email. Test email replies and sharing permissions in the chosen project. See Atlassian's organization documentation, email workflow and portal access settings.
TeamSupport: review the account-oriented Customer Hub
TeamSupport combines the customer portal with knowledge and product information such as release notes. Its published Customer Hub example describes users viewing and commenting on colleagues' company-wide tickets. This makes it a relevant shortlist option when the customer's company should see a shared support picture instead of separate personal inboxes.
The current Professional and Scale lists include the Customer Portal. The inspected official pages do not define a delegated customer-administrator role. Ask the demonstration to show who creates contacts, who grants company visibility and what a removed customer user can still access. Review TeamSupport's product scope and pricing boundaries before including additional channels or onboarding services.
Individual request access is different from customer administration
A portal buyer should specify three roles: an employee who sees their own requests, a customer manager who sees the company's cases, and a person allowed to administer customer users. The first two can be supported without the third. Avoid granting every employee wider visibility merely to help one manager. Keep knowledge permissions, organization membership and ticket visibility as separate configuration decisions.
One company, three contacts, two channels
Create a sample customer with two requesters and one manager. One requester opens a portal case and the other starts by email. Test requester access, manager visibility and unrelated-customer exclusion. Reply by email, then inspect the portal status and conversation. Finally remove one contact and inspect both login access and notifications. These steps expose the actual operating boundary without making the portal comparison a duplicate of multi-brand support or multilingual publishing.
