Why it ranks here: Multi-Provider SSO supports SAML 2.0 and OIDC, plus SCIM user and group provisioning and deprovisioning.
Not a fit if: you need SSO and SCIM without plugin activation and privileged setup; ServiceNow requires identity plugins and administrative configuration.
Why it ranks here: Salesforce supports SAML federation and JIT user creation or updates in the service org.
Not a fit if: you need SSO deactivation to release a license automatically; Salesforce requires a separate deactivation step.

Start with Zendesk for a dedicated support platform, ServiceNow CSM when cases and staff identity controls sit in its configurable service platform, Freshdesk for agent access governed across a Freshworks organization, and Salesforce Agentforce Service when support runs inside a Salesforce org. Compare enforced staff login and offboarding separately. A customer portal login page does not prove that support agents are governed by the same controls.
JIT is creation/update; lifecycle administration remains separate
Zendesk: govern the staff population explicitly
Team-member SAML configuration is distinct from end-user authentication. Require the selected staff population to use the IdP and remove unwanted authentication alternatives. Zendesk also documents SCIM integration with identity providers and an API for ending sessions. These provide distinct components for joining, changing role and leaving; each belongs in the acceptance demonstration.
ServiceNow CSM: configure instance-level identity
CSM provides a configurable agent workspace and case management for issues handled across departments. Multi-Provider SSO documentation covers SAML 2.0 and OIDC and requires the Single Sign-On Installer plugin. A separate SSO-only login setting is needed because the documented default permits local login. SCIM provisions and deprovisions users and groups after its plugin is installed; administrators can lock out users and terminate individual sessions. The CSM package page offers a custom quote, Align package entitlement, plugins and implementation scope with the proposal.
Freshdesk: set policy at the organization layer
Neo Admin Center owns agent login configuration. A support administrator without organization privileges cannot be assumed to control it. For Entra lifecycle automation, the checked RelyApps SCIM connector is paid and separately supplied. Price it as an integration, rather than describing it as an included native feature.
Salesforce: separate federation, JIT and offboarding
Org SAML can connect the service team to its IdP. JIT handles user creation and updates. The October 2026 SSO-only migration notice schedules production auto-migration for January 2027. Apply the supported settings for the actual org release. Freeze blocks login while deactivation dependencies are resolved, and freezing alone does not release a seat.
Worked example: 80 agents and ten contractors
Create three cohorts: ordinary agents, administrators and contractors with an end date. Require the intended login path, assign only the relevant roles, and demonstrate the provisioning mapping before distributing licenses. Then remove a contractor from the IdP, attempt a new login, and separately terminate the existing application session. Preserve a controlled recovery route for an IdP outage.
Budget for the support tier, IdP entitlement, connector and implementation work. The word enterprise in an authentication protocol description is not a sufficient reason to buy the most expensive support edition. Conversely, an optional SSO button is not the same control as a required staff sign-in policy.
We compare official product documentation, plan tables and integration listings for this buying situation. Item order expresses the stated editorial fit. Each capability cell names the relevant configuration and its sources; no numeric quality scores or invented hands-on tests are used. Sources checked in the manual October 2026 research batch.

Best Enterprise Customer Support Software with SSO 2026: documented features
Assign enterprise SSO to team members (including agents/admins) separately from end-user authentication.[1][2]
Configure the team-member SSO assignment and primary redirect. Disable Zendesk authentication when requiring the chosen staff population to use enterprise SSO; maintain the documented recovery procedure.[1][2]
Documented automated provisioning with Okta/Microsoft Entra integration. Configure user-role/attribute mappings in that integration; SAML login is not the provisioning protocol.[3]
Administrators can list and delete user sessions; termination signs the user out. Removing IdP assignment and terminating existing app sessions are separate operational steps.[4]
The reviewed enterprise support configuration uses Admin Center team-member security settings. Enterprise SSO is available without an Enterprise plan.[2][1]
Platform-level federation supports SAML 2.0 and OIDC; activate the Multi-Provider Single Sign-On Installer plugin and configure the identity provider.[5]
Set glide.authentication.external.disable_local_login to true with the documented failed-requirement redirect property to require SSO at the main login page; the property defaults to false.[6]
SAML can auto-create/update users at login; SCIM provisions and deprovisions users and groups through the provider service. SCIM plugin activation and privileged scim_admin access are required.[5][7]
SCIM supports deprovisioning users and groups. Administrators can separately lock out a user or terminate an individual active session.[7][8]
The reviewed CSM package page offers Advanced and Prime with custom quotes. SSO and SCIM require their respective plugins and administrative setup.[9][5][7]
Configure staff identity in Neo Admin Center under Agents & Employees. Customer/contact login policies are a separate configuration.[10][11]
Neo organization administrators can enable/disable login methods and map policy scope. Select the staff account policy and remove unwanted alternatives; customer portal SSO is separate from agent SSO enforcement.[12][10]
The RelyApps Marketplace app provisions, updates, deactivates and restores Freshdesk/Freshdesk Omni agents from Entra. Its developer charge and terms are separate.[13]
An organization administrator can terminate active sessions. A user belonging to several Freshworks products must be deleted from each product to remove the Organization profile.[14][11]
Staff security configuration is centralized in Neo.[11][13]
Salesforce Agentforce Service uses Salesforce org identity. SAML as a service-provider configuration is documented separately from delegated authentication and customer Experience Cloud identity.[15]
Use the supported SSO-only configuration for the org release. The October 2026 notice introduces Single Sign-On Required; auto-migration of eligible production legacy configurations is scheduled for January 4–22, 2027.[16]
SAML assertions can create/update staff records through standard or custom JIT handling.[17]
Freeze a staff user while resolving deactivation dependencies, then deactivate where appropriate. Freezing leaves the license assigned.[18]
Agentforce Service uses Salesforce org authentication; select the current quoted service edition. Federated SAML documentation states all editions. No minimum SSO tier or separate employee-identity add-on is inferred.[15]
Enterprise SSO is an authentication type, not a requirement to buy the Enterprise plan. Admins can disable Zendesk authentication for the selected users.
ServiceNow supports the following SSO methods: OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML 2.0, and Digest Authentication (Token based authentication). To use Multi-Provider SSO, the Integration - Multiple Provider Single Sign-On Installer plugin (com.snc.integration.sso.multi.installer) must be activated.
glide.authentication.external.disable_local_login: When set to true, requires SSO credentials for the main login page. Defaults to false. This property needs to be used in conjunction with the glide.authenticate.honor.sso_record.failed_requirement_redirect property.
Configuring SCIM automatically provisions and de-provisions users and groups to ServiceNow by using the providers provisioning service. Install SCIM plugin. Role required: scim_admin.
The ServiceNow AI Platform provides the ability to view and terminate individual user sessions, lock out users from the system, and make users inactive. The session is terminated, and the user is redirected to the login page at the next attempted transaction.

Agent SSO/password policies belong in Neo Admin Center; contact policies are separate. Users with several products must be removed from each to remove their Organization profile.
Provision Freshdesk agents from Microsoft Entra ID using SCIM. Automate agent creation, updates, deactivation, and restoration from your directory. Published by RelyApps. Paid.
Salesforce supports SAML as service provider; federated authentication is documented for all editions, with other authentication methods having separate edition availability.
October 8, 2026 notice: Single Sign-On Required replaces a specific legacy SSO-only permission/settings combination. Production auto-migration is January 4–22, 2027, not an October-completed event.
Use Just-in-Time (JIT) provisioning to automatically create a user account in your Salesforce org the first time a user logs in with a SAML identity provider. The JIT handler does the heavy lifting of creating and updating user accounts.
