Choose Plain for a focused support-to-engineering loop that returns completed work to a clear customer follow-up queue. Choose Pylon when support and engineering need a documented two-way comment surface. Zendesk combines issue creation and linking with ticket reopening and optional internal notes for Linear issue updates, on Linear Business or Enterprise. Keep Intercom on the shortlist for product conversations linked to engineering defects, and Front for shared-inbox follow-up. Help Scout adds conversation-side issue creation and linking on Plus or Pro.

Plain: issue links with a follow-up queue
Plain’s Linear integration creates an issue or links an existing one from the support thread. Completion or cancellation moves the thread to Close the Loop. That is useful for a team whose core requirement is to remember every affected customer after a fix ships. Foundation includes the integration and unlimited viewers, although anyone replying to customers needs the appropriate paid member role.
Pylon: a specific two-way comment surface
Pylon brings Linear comments into private support context and sends replies from its dedicated Linear internal thread back to engineering. A normal customer reply or another internal note does not take that route. This distinction gives the team a concrete place for technical discussion without making every customer message an engineering comment. Closing linked work can return the request to Waiting on You. Configure Linear teams as public for proper integration linking.
Zendesk: ticket reopening with internal engineering updates
The Linear Zendesk integration guide documents issue creation or linking from a ticket and reopening linked tickets after issue completion or cancellation. It can add internal notes when Linear comments or status changes occur. Zendesk’s Marketplace listing documents the ticket workflow and requires installation of the app plus Zendesk automation from Linear settings. Each participating Zendesk agent needs a Linear account, and the integration is available on Linear Business and Enterprise.
Intercom: several affected conversations, one issue
The Linear-maintained Intercom connector links several conversations to one engineering issue, and can also link several issues to one conversation. Completion or cancellation produces an internal note and reopens the conversation by default. Status and comment events can be configured independently. Internal notes written in Intercom do not sync to Linear, so describe this as a customer-follow-up integration rather than a general two-way discussion mirror. The Linear workspace must be on Business or Enterprise.
Front: close the loop from a shared inbox
Front’s connector creates or links issues, shows status and assignee, and reopens a linked conversation when the issue closes. Optional Linear comments appear as internal Front notes; notes written inside Front do not return to Linear. Automated comments and reopening do not work for private inbox conversations. Front offers its integration on all plans, but Linear still requires Business or Enterprise.
Help Scout: create or link issues from a conversation
Help Scout’s Linear guide documents searching existing issues, linking them to a conversation, or creating a new issue in the conversation sidebar. The integration is available on Plus and Pro, requires the Access API permission to install, and each Help Scout user connects an individual Linear account.
Evaluate issue relationships before counting integrations
Try three customers reporting one defect, then one customer reporting two separate defects. Check which linked conversations reopen, how duplicate engineering reports are merged, and where the support owner receives the next action. The customer update should be composed in the support system after the engineer’s event. A reopened conversation is not an automatically sent customer reply.
For the commercial comparison, price the people who reply, the engineers who need to inspect context and the required Linear subscription separately. Pylon’s current seat minimum and viewer allowance require a quote. Plain Foundation’s five-member ceiling matters when a sixth person needs to reply; viewers are a different role. See Plain pricing and Pylon pricing.
Use the general B2B SaaS comparison when Linear is optional, or Slack customer support when the buying decision starts with shared customer channels. All comparisons.
