Gorgias is a strong shortlist candidate for ecommerce teams that spend much of their support time answering order questions and changing Shopify orders. Its advantage is the connection between customer conversations and commerce operations. The main buying boundary is economic: the helpdesk is priced by ticket workload, and successful AI automation can add another charge to the same ticket.
Order work beside the conversation
The Shopify ticket widget supports cancellations, refunds and order editing. Agents can choose refund quantities, shipping amounts and restocking options. Macros also combine replies with operations such as duplicating an order or changing its shipping address. This can simplify the common sequence of finding an order, updating it and explaining the outcome.
Those actions have concrete boundaries. Refunds cannot fully process orders paid through different payment gateways, and gift-card amounts are excluded. Order editing excludes archived orders, orders older than 60 days and orders in a different store currency. A merchant handling those cases regularly should include them in its evaluation.
Gorgias also provides branded help centers with articles and multiple languages. Centers can connect to stores and supply AI Agent knowledge. Help center creation becomes available after the free trial, so that part of the evaluation has a different timing from inbox setup.
Automation and service management
All Helpdesk plans include up to 70 rules. Rules can assign to teams, tag requests and send replies, with store or channel conditions defining their scope. Automatic assignment then distributes work to available agents using workload, priority, age and capacity limits.
SLA targets cover first response and resolution, can distinguish ticket groups and can pause outside business or holiday hours. Customer-submitted CSAT feeds a Satisfaction report, while configurable dashboards collect operational metrics. These capabilities give growing stores controls beyond a shared mailbox.
Model the workload before choosing
Helpdesk-only Starter costs $10 monthly for 50 tickets and three seats. Basic includes 300 tickets and 500 seats, so adding agents does not require multiplying its price by headcount. Starter is nevertheless too small for five agents.
The current billing model counts human, rule and AI replies as billable tickets. A conversation resolved by AI without a human can consume both a ticket and an automated interaction. Gorgias fits merchants whose native commerce workflows justify that usage model. Estimate busy-month tickets and automated interactions separately before selecting a tier.
With AI Agent and a connected Shopify store, actions can execute order changes and sequence steps across connected apps. That is a separate purchasing question from whether human agents can use the ticket widget. Compare the available AI actions and their qualifying conditions against the requests you intend to automate.
WooCommerce is a different integration
The WooCommerce connection continuously syncs order/customer context but explicitly excludes order writes and Automate. Use the WooCommerce comparison before transferring Shopify assumptions to WordPress.
