HubSpot Service Hub vs Zendesk 2026

Compare HubSpot Service Hub and Zendesk for CRM-connected support, with required seat types, onboarding, SLA tiers and knowledge-base limits.

Verified

Choose HubSpot Service Hub if support and customer success need to work directly with the same CRM records as sales and marketing. Choose Zendesk if the central purchase is a dedicated ticket operation with channels, skills routing and configurable service workflows. A HubSpot Starter inbox and a fully equipped Professional help desk are different buying decisions.

Where CRM context changes the decision

A subscription business already using HubSpot can connect support tickets to customer and company records while customer success tracks retention work. That is a concrete reason to shortlist Service Hub Professional. The help desk workspace consolidates connected channels and ticket handling; a cheap Core Seat does not grant every advanced service function. Separate people who need to resolve tickets from colleagues who only read account history.

For ten fully entitled agents, HubSpot Professional is $900/month at annual rates plus $1,500 required onboarding; Zendesk Suite Professional is $1,150/month before extras. This is subscription arithmetic, not an implementation quote. HubSpot skills routing requires Enterprise, changing ten seats to $1,500/month plus $3,500 onboarding. Zendesk Professional is therefore the more relevant listed tier when specialist assignment is mandatory.

Choose Zendesk for an operation whose primary control surface is the service queue and whose CRM can be connected as another system. Its channel bundle, ticket rules and specialist routing can be evaluated independently of a wider sales and marketing platform. For a business already standardizing customer work in HubSpot, the value is instead the common record and reporting context; measure the integration effort saved against the required plan and seats.

HubSpot's separate flexible seats-and-credits program changes the quote for eligible net-new EMEA customers. It uses GTM/Ops seats, requires at least one GTM Seat and does not mix editions. The USD Service Seat calculations above should not be applied to that program. This is a specific packaging boundary, not an exchange-rate conversion.

Buyer questions

Is HubSpot Starter enough for a knowledge-base help desk?

No. The product catalog places the knowledge base, customer portal and full support workspace on higher editions.

Does having HubSpot CRM remove the need for Service Seats?

No under hub-based pricing. Full Professional/Enterprise service access requires Service Seats; free view-only seats cannot change records.
